I have used Amarok 1.x successfully for a long time. With today's announcement of 2.0.1 I decided to move to it. I am running Kubuntu 8.04 with KDE 4.1.3. I did the install of amarok-kde4 with Synaptic and started Amarok. It stopped doing it's collection scan at 98% with the words "Scanning Music" still showing and just sits there doing nothing. I did an uninstall and removed all files I could find about Amarok and did a reinstall. The initial start up does the same thing. I tried running from a terminal and got many messages about invalid sample rates, amongst others. I have all my mp3's in one directory, there are approximately 6,700 files. I have left it running for up to 20 minutes and it will not complete the scan. Any ideas?
------------------------------------------------------------------- I am now at KDE4.2. I read the bug reports and then saw the install update for 2.0.1.1 and thought this looked to be solved. I installed amarok-kde4 again (Synaptic), removed amarok, and started to build my collection. Once again it reached 98% and stalled with no messages apparent. Removed amarok-kde4 and went back to amarok. I have added several more tunes and 4 m4b books for my iPod since the last try. I'm now just under 7,000 entries and have a lot of Spanish music with special characters in the titles and file names.

See my notes in the first section of this message. I tried 2.0.1.1 under KDE 4.2 to see if the 98% scan problem was fixed and it isn't for me.

That would be because the bug is still open. If you have any useful info or debug output that could help fix the issue, I would strongly suggest adding it to the bug report. (Please note that merely adding "it happens to me too" remark to the bug report doesn't help )
