Hi there,
Recently I installed Amarok 2. Now I have a question how do I get the sound over my Creative Xmod card. With the previous Amarok I had installed (1.4.10 I believe) it was possible to arrange that with: "asoundconf set-default-card Xmod". Amarok 2 is the only application which ignores that and just use the default card in my laptop. Any idea? Do I need to change something in .kde/share/apps/amarok/xine-config ? |

I have the same problem, but my card is Toshiba Multimedia Center (Creative SoundBlaster 24bit External)
Everywhere i've Toshiba Multimedia Center / PulseAudio as default, but amarok 2.0.2 ignores them. |

Amarok 2 doesn't handle the sound settings itself, but uses Phonon to do so. Go to SystemSettings -> Sound (or Multimedia in KDE 4.2) and select your card there.
Also, I suggest not to use Pulseaudio, as it is known to be very buggy and normally KDE doesn't use it by default. Either uninstall it or push it to the bottom in the Phonon card list to avoid it taking over the sound settings. At least for me this killed all sound in KDE on several occasions.
Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ... |

but....afaik only pulseaudio can support 5.1 upmix on my sound card. Any ideas for replace PulseAudio without losing 5.1? (i'm using ubuntu 9.04)
