Hi Guys,
Firstly I must say I like Amarok, I like it a LOT. I have a large collection of music, I mean very large, 700GB worth. On my first install of Amarok on Linux Mint I used the Lite version of SQL and found that not too many of the songs I searched for were found. Despite giving it ample time. When I attached my USB drive to a Windows machine it found the same tracks pretty quickly. So I am currently reinstalling my Linux Mint and will reinstall Amarok today but I was wondering if there is something I should be doing in order to have my indexing working properly. I intend to install the correct version of MYSQL prior to installing Amarok as described here :- http://amarok.kde.org/wiki/MySQL_HowTo So basically I want to ensure that I can search for, and find, the songs I am looking for. Any suggestions welcome! Thanks

Well with Amarok 2, MySQL is the only backend. Just find a distro with Amarok 2 (OpenSUSE, Kubuntu, Mandriva).

Which version of Amarok?
Tracks not showing in the collection is often a symptom of not having support in taglib for particuar file formats, usually .mp3, rather than using a particular database format. That wiki page is only valid for Amarok 1.4.x btw.

Aha! Therein may lie my problem. I think I will ensure I get Amark 2 installed and check on that taglib thingy (will read up on it) and see if I'm doin' stuff right! Thanks!!!! |
