Hi...
Please help me uninstall Amarok from Mac OS X. I've uninstalled via a utility called AppCleaner, but many other files still exist. In regard I've seen somewhere this: "sudo apt-get remove amarok" then "sudo apt-get autoremove". Despite being a computer-idiot, I've tried the first command in terminal, but it responded something like that: "inappropriate command; you might delete or distort some important system files". So I gave up. Please help, how can I uninstall it? Burak

Those commands are specific to some linux distros - they won't work on OSX
There's no actual uninstall utility for the mac - to delete your amarok settings, delete the directory /Users/ The application is installed in /opt/local/share/apps/amarok/ so you can delete that directory, as well as /opt/local/lib/KDE4/amarok* Pretty sure that's everything.

Many thanks for your reply.
Regarding your first line, should I delete KDE and the rest, since I haven't installed anything KDE? And as to your second line, again, should I delete the opt at the very begining and the rest, since this opt seems to be created with the Amarok installation itself?

Sure - you're right, the Amarok package does install the other KDE stuff to make sure you have what you need. You can delete the lot if you wish

You've been a great help, thanks a lot. By the way, assuming you're involved in Amarok I want to tell you that when I first used it, I felt as if the sound was more musical, had more body and weight and as if I was using a tube preamp. So it will be a great player when some issues like the problem with collection get fixed. And I wish it wouldn't use so much CPU, %22.
Thanks again... |
