Amarok and PostgreSQL problem

Wed Feb 11, 2009 5:00 pm
I'm using Amarok 1.4.9.1 in kubuntu 8.04, I have a library of almost 10 000 songs so SQlite couldn't handle it, so I decided to use postgreSQL 8.3, what happens is that it is incredibly slow, when I try to search a song it takes almost 1 or 2 minutes to search it, and also when I skip a song this happen sometimes. I tried to use MySQL but I never got it running, so I decided to use postgreSQL. Also I think I have a good computer (AMD Athlon X2 2.1 GHz, 2 Gb ram). Can someone help me please?? This is very annoying.

In general:

Never put all of those files (= your whole collection) into the playlist at the same time. That's gonna make Amarok 1.x incredibly slow.

Amarok deals with large collections perfectly well, but the playlist itself doesn't work so well. We recommend not loading the entire collection into the playlist at one time. Please consider using a dynamic playlist if you wish to play all of your tracks in a random mode.
