Could somebody please help me with this issue?
-----------
Error Loading Media
No suitable input plugin. This often means that the url's protocol is not supported. Network failures are other possible causes.

smb://nslu2/media/Music/atestfile.flac
-------------

I also mounted the share, but to no avail

-------------
Error Loading Media
No suitable demux plugin. This often means that the file format is not supported.
file:///home/clemenh/smb4k/NSLU2/media/Music/atestfile.flac
-------------

Note: I am able to play .flac file locally.

Any help on this one will be gratefully received.
Kind Regards,
Harold Clements

Thank you very much for your reply Mark.

The version of Amarok that I have installed is 1.4.5.

After I posted this (and very late last night) I found that one of the .flac files that I was attempting to play had been corrupt. Therefore, the mounted share does work fine. (file:///home/clemenh/smb4k/NSLU2/media/Music/atestfile.flac). However, I am still having problems with trying to play .flac files from the samba share (smb://nslu2/media/Music/atestfile.flac

I am fairly new to Linux and I am still learning the basics. I am using Yellow Dog Linux on a PS3. I set my samba share (smb://) by navigating through ‘Computer – Network ...’, right clicking on the required network share and selecting ‘Make a Link’. I how have an icon on my desktop called ‘media’. This icon remains, even after rebooting.

I mounted the drive using a Samba GUI application (Smb4k). This application created a directory in my home folder (clemenh) called ‘smb4k’ which contained the path to my music directory. As previously stated, after finding that the .flac file that I was testing with was corrupt, I was able to play my music. However, this mount does not remain after a reboot.

Therefore my questions are:

Can Amarok 1.4.5. play media files over a samba share (smb://) ?
I take it that there is a way to make a mounted share (file:///) that remains static after a reboot?

Any help or advice will be gratefully received.

Thanks again,
Harold Clements

It would probably be worth bugging the YellowDog maintainers to make a package for the latest version of Amarok - 1.4.5 is a couple of years old and there have been many improvements since then!

That said, to make a samba share persistent, you'll need to either add it to your /etc/fstab file (need root access or sudo permission to do this) or create a small script that mounts it when your user logs in. See the Amarok wiki http://amarok.kde.org/wiki/Samba for more info about Amarok and samba.
