When I press play, the triangle icon changes size (small to large) but nothing happens. This is with Internet radio or my MP3 and FLAC collection.
Audacious works OK, but I like Amarok much better. I'm running: Amarok Version 2.0.1 Using KDE 4.1.4 uname says: 2.6.27.12-170.2.5.fc10.i686.PAE Is there a way to debug what is going on? Some way to get a log from Amarok? yum says I have: amarok.i386 2.0.1.1-1.fc10 installed amarokFS.i386 0.5-4.fc10 installed PackageKit-gstreamer-plugin.i386 0.3.13-1.fc10 installed gstreamer.i386 0.10.21-2.fc10 installed gstreamer-ffmpeg.i386 0.10.5-1.fc10 installed gstreamer-plugins-base.i386 0.10.21-2.fc10 installed gstreamer-plugins-flumpegdemux.i386 0.10.15-4.fc10 installed gstreamer-plugins-good.i386 0.10.11-4.fc10 installed gstreamer-plugins-ugly.i386 0.10.10-2.fc10 installed gstreamer-python.i386 0.10.12-1.fc10 installed gstreamer-tools.i386 0.10.21-2.fc10 installed totem-gstreamer.i386 2.24.3-1.fc10 installed audacious-plugins-freeworld-mp3.i386 1.4.5-2.fc10 installed gallery2-mp3audio.noarch 2.3-1.fc10 installed lame-mp3x.i386 3.98.2-2.fc10 installed mp3gain.i386 1.4.6-5.fc10 installed vdr-mp3.i386 0.10.1-4.fc10 installed xmms-mp3.i386 1.2.11-2.20071117cvs.fc10 installed |

1) Use the xine Phonon backend (less buggy).
2) Make sure to install "libxine1-ffmpeg".

Thank you for the suggestions Mark.
Before I saw you post I did a "yum upgrade" and got a bunch of stuff upgraded -- dozens of packages. With a reboot it's now working! Hooray! Your post leads me to ask -- how does one select the backend for Amarok? I don't see anything on Settings->Configure Amarok. |

As Amarok 2 uses Phonon (a KDE component), you need to set it in the KDE systemsettings, then Sound (or "Multimedia" on 4.2) -> Backend.

I have the same problem... I am also using Fedora 10 and I do have the xine Phonon backend up and running, but I cannot seem to find the "libxine1-ffmpeg" package to install. I have all the repositories in Kpackageit checked except for the unstable (Rawhide) version. I have never tried Audacious though.

On Fedora the package of course has a different name (what I wrote was for Kubuntu). You could just google for "fedora xine mp3" or so, or ask on their forums.

Thanks for your help. I just installed xine-extras package rebooted and it started to work.
