hi!
I've upgraded my amarok 1.4 to 2.0.1.1 (on my Ubuntu 8.10), but i'm so disappointed. There's too many bugs to say "amarok 2 is usable release" (or maybe I do something wrong). Ok, the main problem with new amarok is, that some albums (mainly Porcupine Tree ) aren't playing. When I try, time is still "0:00", but on the status bar I see "playing" (amarok is also scrobbling these tracks to last.fm). Second, I never can run amarok two times. If I click "Quit" from the Amarok menu, during the next start (in the same session) amarok won't start, crashing by SIGSEGV or SIGABRT, and I see "Unable to create a valid backtrace.". --- Sorry for my english. |

I ran into this issue too. It started after upgrading from KDE 4.1 to KDE 4.2. I figured out that Amarok won't play files in folders with some special chars in the foldername. I'm used to note the releasedate and disc numbers in brackets [] into the foldername. All files in these folders are only playable when i rename the folder to something without specialchars. But this issue doesn't seem to be Amarok but KDE releated. All those mp3 worked before the upgrade to KDE 4.2. I tried a rebuild of Amarok against the new kdelibs in the hope it will work again, but no chance Amarok still doesn't play them. |

Well... has anyone checked for a bug report? I think you'll find it's probably not a deliberate decision to exclude particular characters. http://bugs.kde.org - if there's no existing repost, please open your own.
