Since I reinstalled OpenSUSE 11.1 yesterday Amarok 2.0.2 (and 2.0.1 before) behaves strangely: After a song ends the next track in den list is shortly highlighted as if it was playing (and the track actually is playing) but only for maybe half a second, then it skips to the next track in den playlist and plays the song perfectly.
Track1 (plays perfectly) -> Track2 (plays for 0,5 sec) -> Track 3 (plays perfectly) -> Track 4 (0,5 sec). This behaviour only occurs only for certain tracks (ogg and mp3) and is reproducable. It doesn't matter what track is the second track, it only depends on the first track. Sometimes even two tracks are skipped but sometimes two tracks play without any problem (if Track1 and Track2 are not in the playlist). I use KDE 4.2.1 with xine as phonon backend. Any ideas what could be the reason for this behaviour? |

Make sure you have the necessary codecs installed,. Wild guess, some of the tracks are mp3, others not. A I right?
Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ... |

I have the same problem.
I use amarok 2.0.2 on OpenSUSE 11.0 with KDE 4.2.1 All my tracks are mp3 and the necessary codecs are properly installed. |

I have all the codecs installed. I can play the tracks that are skipped in the described scenario can be played without any problem when I double-click them oder put them in the playlist alone.
This problem applies for mp3 and ogg files. @Sisco: Maybe the problem ist OpenSUSE-related... I just need an idea what package could be responsible for the problem and then try to replace it by a previous or newer version. |

Same problem here... Kubuntu 8.10 and Amorok 2.0.2, used to happen with 2.0.1 too.

I can confirm the same problem as well. I upgraded yesterday to Amarok 2.0.2 and KDE 4.2.1, and getting this exact same behavior. Before, when I was using Amarok 2.0.1 and KDE 4.2.0 I did not have this problem.
While I have no evidence for it, I have a feeling it is related to Phonon, or how Amarok uses Phonon. The skipping tracks problem looks a lot like the behavior I see when my audio device is locked (except then it will skip over all songs, rather than skip one and then start playing again). All of this is using OpenSUSE 11.0. I also installed Qt 4.5 from the repositories, but I upgraded Qt earlier, and this in itself did not cause the problem. |

Note that if you happen to use xinelib 1.1.16.1 with Amarok, this version has known regressions and will not work correctly.
1.1.16.2 allegedly fixes these issues. Similarly, the GStreamer Phonon backend is currently still known to be buggy. We recommend against using it at this point.

Markey, you rock!
I was using the Xine backend, and my Xinelib was actually still at 1.1.15. I just upgraded to 1.1.16.2 and the first impression is that the problem is solved! Btw, you just convinced me to donate again Cheers! |

Darn, I was cheering too early. While I have the impression the problem occurs less now, I still have it sometimes.
Nevertheless, keep up the good work |

I already had libxine 1.1.16.2.
Tried downgrading to 1.1.5 but i don't have libxine-codecs for this version in my repositories so I couldn't play mp3s... |

I justed wanted to add that this problem appeared on my system when I upgraded to KDE 4.2.1 ...

For what it's worth, I can't reproduce this problem with Kubuntu 8.10, KDE 4.2.1 (from backports), Amarok SVN trunk, and xinelib 1.1.15.

Hi,
Has anyone solved the problem? I have the same on openSuSE 11.1 with KDE 4.2.1 and Amarok2 svn. But when I tried to use Amarok 1.4 under KDE4 - everything was ok. So maybe this is not connected with xine? (I even try to downgrade the phonon-xine backend to 4.1.3 version - but without result). [I am a historian, so my informatics knowledge is... You know ; and sorry for mistakes in English] Michal. |

I updated all packages today and the bug seems to be fixed.
Don't know which of the updates actually fixed the problem. libxine1 is still version 1.1.16.2-0 so the problem does not seem to be related to this package. I guess it is phonon-backend-xine that I updated from 4.3.0 to 4.3.1 from openSUSE 11.1 repos. Thanks for your efforts |

I just checked and I was still at on old version of Phonon-backend-xine as well. So I upgraded to 4.3.1 as well (OpenSUSE 11.0 repos), but it's not fixed for me
