Well, not really. I got it working yesterday, and managed to upload a song to the iPod. However, when I went to play the song, it said 'no music'. The iPod can't seem to see any songs in its collection.
I've checked, Amarok still shows all the songs there, plugged it into a Windows computer and it still showed all the songs (with the screwy 4-letter filenames, but they did exist), and even the iPod knows that most of its space is used up. Please help: i've used iTunes on windows for years, and definitely wouldn't have bothered with Amarok if I knew it would delete everything the first time I used it. Do I now need to rerip every song to reload it? Will Amarok just wipe the iPod again if I do? The computer used is an Asus EEE with Xandros, and the iPod is a 'fatty' 3G nano. |

Nothing has been deleted. Please read up on our ipod documentation: http://amarok.kde.org/wiki/Media_Device:IPod
Hint: you need to set the ipod model otherwise Amarok doesn't know to write the md5 hash over the database for that model. Without a hash, the iPod doesn't recognise the database correctly (or rather, it ignores it). After you set the ipod model, plug in the ipod into amarok, then eject it and all should be fine. |

How do I set the iPod model? I've spent a while trying to get libgpod (since it looks like I'll need that to run this iPod model), but struggled (it looks like it needs to be compiled from source, and I've had absolutely no luck getting a compiler working on the laptop).
Do I only need libgpod, or are there other steps to setting the model? |
