The volume on my PC is very poor, even when set as high as possible. adjusting the equalizer has little or no effect. The sound also doesn't appear to be coming out of my right speaker when i adjust the balance level.

How do make the sound louder and higher quality?

I think this is a question you should address in a forum related to your distribution, as this is more a sound setting issue than a real Amarok problem.
Don't forget to specify your PC hardware, especially the sound card, as well as the Linux version an the version of KDE (or whatever desktop you are using).

Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ...

Do you have low volume in Amarok only?

yes, the sound in the media player for instance is much better. amarok offers extremely poor quality.
