Hi
On the Amarok blog here: http://amarok.kde.org/blog/archives/822 ... -sexy.html Leo Franchi explains how he has got Amorok 2 running on OSX. I have followed his instructions, installed Base System, QT4.4, KDE Support, MySQL 5.1, and 4.12 Apps (in that order) and Amarok runs. However, I am unable to build a collection. Leo says to do this "you'll need to compile/install mysql manually (following instructions for MySqlE)" and gives a link to http://amarok.kde.org/wiki/Development/MySQL_Embedded It then has the following instructions: " Compilation instructions tar xzvf mysql-5.1.28-rc.tar.gz cd mysql-5.1.28 cp -R /path/to/amaroksource/supplementary_scripts/mysqle/* . export MAKEOPTS=-j2 # or more if you have many CPU cores ./build-mysqle.sh --prefix=${HOME}/usr then build Amarok like normal If you install to a different prefix, you will have to set the CMAKE_INCLUDE_PATH and CMAKE_LIBRARY_PATH environment variables. For example, if you install to ~/amarok-build/mysql, you should do export CMAKE_LIBRARY_PATH=$HOME/amarok-build/mysql/lib:$CMAKE_LIBRARY_PATH export CMAKE_INCLUDE_PATH=$HOME/amarok-build/mysql/include:$CMAKE_INCLUDE_PATH before running cmake on the Amarok sources. " ? I know nothing about programming and nothing about programming in Unix so i am now lost. Does anyone know of anywhere I can get a more step-by-step / guided approach to get MySql and therefore Amarok running on my OSX Mac? Any help would be appreciated. Sean |

Well, this blog article was from October 29, 2008. You can now get Amarok 2 for OSX in a much easier way, from http://mac.kde.org.

They say creating a collection in Amarok doesn't work - I wonder how up-to-date that page is?
I have a lovely collection on OS X using the unofficial Amarok 2 .dmg from the amarok download page (note this is pretty much just Amarok and as much KDE as is required): http://amarok.kde.org/wiki/Download:Mac_OS
