Amarok 2.0.2: Collection Scan fails

Mon Mar 16, 2009 2:23 pm
Hi ,

I have a big Problem with the Amarok 2: it won't scan my collection. I'm using Arch Linux with KDE 4.2.1 - qt4.5 and installed Amarok from kdemod-extragear, if this is important for you.

When I try to scan, it stops at 74% without any error (I tried starting Amarok from command line). The ~/.kde4/share/apps/amarok/collection_scan.files is filled correctly with all files that should be scanned, but I don't have a collection in Amarok. As embedded mysql should be used, I did not configure anything at mysql. Is this ok or did I miss some configuration?

Any help would be great!

This is an arch packaging problem:
http://kdemod.ath.cx/bbs/viewtopic.php?id=526

short:
Downgrading to 2.0.1.1 solves this issue temporarily. There will be a new 2.0.2 build shortly I hope.

I had the same problem with kdemod-extragear-amarok 2.0.2 and downgrading to 2.0.1.1 solved it for me:
cd /var/cache/pacman/pkg
sudo pacman -U kdemod-extragear-amarok 2.0.1.1-4-i686.pkg.tar.gz (or an x86_64 version)
Of course, this only works if you had the old version previously.

This might or might not be the same, when you use the normal kde packages.
