Changes in collection result in messed up tags

I'm using Amarok 2.0.1, in Kubuntu Intrepid (8.10), with KDE 4.2.  I don't know if this issue is fixed in Amarok 2.0.2, as I guess that hasn't been added to the repositories.

I had this problem a month or two ago, and I just experienced it again, unfortunately.  Both times I deleted a file (this case it was four or five files) that were in my collection.  This time I also added a folder to my collection.  But after Amarok scanned my collection again, some files have incorrect tags.

Not all files are messed up, and it doesn't seem to be written to the id3 tags in the actual file itself.  But what I mean is, the Artist, Album, and other tags will be incorrect.  The song name tag will remain untouched, but all the other tags will be mismatched using other tag info stored in the collection database.  I don't think any untagged files are affected, and not all tagged files are affected, either.

Last time this happened, I ended up deleting my collection database and starting over.  Since then I have made an attempt to rate every song in my collection (so as to make good use of the Dynamic Playlist feature).  But while I haven't finished yet, I have tagged a lot of songs, and I really don't want to have to delete the database again.  I hope this can be fixed without me having to remove the database and start over.

Just FYI, tags are written to the files, not to only the database, except for the ratings. You will lose the ratings only if you delete your db. Be sure to backup your database before deleting so you can restore it if necessary.

Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ...

I know the tags are written to the files.  I more meant that, when Amarok messes up the tags, the mistakes aren't then written back to the actual file.  So the correct tags are at least preserved in the actual audio file.  The messed up tags exist only in the collection database.

I was more or less hoping that Amarok could dump the tags from the affected fields (everything but song name) and rescan the collection to get the correct tags from the id3 tags.  Without having to sacrifice the ratings and statistics.
