I messed up with my collection so that now appear some files that are actually not there anymore. How can I "delete" or "reset" my collection? I want to have Amarok just like it was when I downloaded it, without any mp3 in the collection, I will then proceed to add them.
Is there a way to do it? I tried unistalling and reinstalling but it loaded the collection as it was before. Thanks

Which version of KDE/Amarok are you using?
With Amarok 2 just remove ~/.kde4/share/apps/amarok/ & ~/.kde4/share/config/amarok* With Amarok 1.4 remove ~/.kde/share/apps/amarok/ & ~/.kde/share/config/amarokrc But be aware that you loose all statistics, too. Greetings m0nk

I'm using Amarok 2.
Do I need to remove Amarok first? Also, should I remove the whole folder ~/.kde4/share/apps/amarok/ ? And I don't understand what I have to delete in the second one ~/.kde4/share/config/amarok*, I go to ~/.kde4/share/config/ but there is no file "amarok*". Thanks for your help. |

There's no need to remove amarok, but close it.
Remove the whole folder. There's nothing worth to keep it. The star is a so-called wildcard to remove all files starting with amarok. There will be a file called amarokrc, perhaps amarok_homerc and amarok_appletsrc. Remove them all and restart amarok. It should come up with the first-run wizard now. Greetings m0nk

Amarok will not show me the option to select MySQL when I try to configure my collection - the screen has the folder tree and no drop-down window. I tried the deletions above to get back to the first run wizard, because I am trying to get the option back to use MySQL instead of SQLite. (My collection is very large.) I can USE a database named amarok form the command line in MySQL, my mysqld daemon is running, so I think I have MySQL set up ok.
Also: when amarok starts, a popup window has this message: ERROR:Amarok URL cannot be listed file:///home/ Can anybody help me? I've tried completely installing & reinstalling & purging amarok, kde, and MySQL with no joy. Versions: Amarok 2.0.2 Ubuntu 9.0.4 MySQL 5.1.30really5.0.75 (? that's what it says in package manager ?) |

Amarok 2 uses an embedded version of mysql as default. So there's no need to select it (, because it's the only database supported).
