Ever since moving up to Amarok 2 I have been missing songs which at first didn't seem to be big but when I transferred to my IPOD I realized that I am missing 3000+ tracks of about 16000+. I finally updated to 2.0.2 and the same is still happening. There doesn't seem to be any relation to all the tracks that are missing either. Sometimes it's whole albums, sometimes just songs. I would file a bug report but I have no idea what I would base it on. All my music is in the same directory etc. There is a Various Artist but under that it is a unknown album with no songs so idk?

Well wiping out the entire amarok database and starting from scratch it removed the various artist thing but songs are still missing. (Less but still quite a few). Is there anyway to figure what is happening?

While the "Various Artists" problem is still not solved, we have made progress with the "missing tracks" issue, which was caused by bugs in the collection scanner.
The fixes are however in SVN trunk, and we don't plan to make another 2.0.x release, so you will have to wait for the 2.1-beta1 release (pretty soon).

Good news: We've recently been able to fix most of the problems with "Various Artists" too.
So, stay tuned for 2.1-beta1

using 4.2.1 (fedora testing) I am also seeing a similar problem. I tracked down the missing songs and amarok does not properly read the id3 tags on them, it reports that all of the fields are empty. I checked the tags independently and they do exist and are filled.
