Advice on libntp under CentOS 5.1

Tue Mar 24, 2009 12:21 am
I'm very new. I've searched and googled with no joy, so I'm going to ask.

I've installed amarok 1.4.10 on CentOS 5.1 from rpm amarok-1.4.10-2.el5. All appears to work.

I was given an iRiver Clix 2 (eBay used? still a gift) for my birthday. It also appears to work. My kernel shows it in /proc/bus/usb/devices when I plug it in. I also installed the libmtp-0.2.6.1-3.el5.kb rpm.

Autoscanning for the device complains that DBUS and HAL aren't running, but both are.  This site:

http://www.misticriver.net/forums/irive ... rning.html

... offers instructions, but the extension drop down doesn't have MTP.

I'm beginning to suspect that I may need to compile amarok from source. Can anyone advise me on this? If I'm going to do a compile, should I just get the 2.0 source? Was there a schema change? (Even if so, I guess I could just recan and then add labels again. Not too much there to lose.)

TIA for any help, and feel free to point me to a FAQ or HOWTO

~Lan
