I don't really know what the nis parameter should do. You can try to remove remove it for test...
Do you use Arch linux too ? avahi-daemon is running? |

You can savely remove nis. If you don't know what it is, you don't need it.
NIS is an unsafe service from SUN to retrieve informations about hosts, user etc. So if don't have a nis server running in your network, and I don't think so, you can remove it. But it doesn't do any harm to have it listed in nsswitch.conf. More interesting is, that your amarok comes up without looking for daap resources at all. Search for a file called libamarok_collection-daapcollection.so and one containing libnss_mdns*. Greetings m0nk

Hi,
I've looked for the files you said, and i've all of them, where are the prints : [root@localhost /]# locate libamarok_collection-daapcollection.so /usr/lib/kde4/libamarok_collection-daapcollection.so [root@localhost /]# locate libnss_mdns /lib/libnss_mdns.so.2 /lib/libnss_mdns4.so.2 /lib/libnss_mdns4_minimal.so.2 /lib/libnss_mdns6.so.2 /lib/libnss_mdns6_minimal.so.2 /lib/libnss_mdns_minimal.so.2 I'me using now the amarok 4.1.1 and has the same behaviour, don't show the share music from my NAS 323 itunes server. I have the mandriva 2009.1 with KDE 4.2.4. any help?? cheers |

Which firmware is installed on your DNS323?
The so-called iTunes server is running on the box? Perhaps check with Win/iTunes. Next start amarok with the parameter -d to get more output. Check if your NAS appears as a daap resource. The D-Link box should appear automagically in your collections tab. m0nk

Hi,
the firmware is Firmware Version: 1.05. Yes the itunes server is running and i can see it in my win/itunes client in other PC, and it work fine. I see it too in the earlier version of mandriva 2009.0 that came with amarok 1.4, and it worked fine too. I started with the -d parameter as you said : The output: [nuno@localhost ~]$ amarok -d TagLib: ID3v2.4 no longer supports the frame type TDAT. It will be discarded from the tag. There should be a line in the output, indicating that amarok queries the NAS. And yes, if detected it appears under your collections with the name you gave the d-link box, f.e MyNas. There's nothing to configure.
But I can't find any output regarding your NAS. amarok(3498) DNSSD::RemoteService::resolveAsync: DNSSD::RemoteService(0x8ae9bc0) :Starting resolve of : "QNAP" "_daap._tcp" "local" This is the output when a QNAP NAS is present. And you'll get an icon over "Local Collection" called like the NAS. Don't know Mandriva 2009, but it seems related to your distribution's Amarok package, because on other distris the daap collections appear (even when unwanted). m0nk

But the question is why does the new Amarok don't work with Mandriva 2009 and my NAS 323, because in Amarok 1.4 it worked just fine.
Does anyone have Mandriva 2009.1 with amarok client to a daap server? |

Mandriva 2009.1 starts a firewall and blocks port 3689?
