Yes, I know 2.1 is still beta but I hope these problems can be fixed for the final release, and for later releases as well.
First, I must say that 2.1 is a big improvement over 2.0.2, even in its beta-status. I love how easy it is to get the playlist to show exactly the fields you're interested in (and that I could tuirn off the grouping...I always found that one rather annoying to tell the truth), not to mention that the "Amarok can't figure out the bitrate, length, and whatnot of that file so it's not added to the collection" bug seems to have been fixed - at least the songs I had problems with earlier is now a part of my collection. Well, that being said: onto the upgrade problems. Only two but still, and I think both are related to the fact that the database-schema had been extended to allow for replay-gain so a complete rescan of the database was triggered. The first is related to how "Various Artists" are handled. In 2.0.2 I had had to manually set "Show under various artists" on quite a few albums. Unfortunately, Amarok forgot those details when it was upgraded so I had to redo it. I really hope this can be avoided in the future, because I suspect that no matter how much the collection scanner will be improved there will always be some need to do it manually. The second problem is regarding the "My playlists" feature. I use that feature A LOT, and categorizes the playlists in different folders. After the update, the categorization is messed up. I.e. I used to have a folder called Compilations, and within that one I had Party-mixes, 80's, 90's and so on. Now the subfolders are in the main tree. That in itself wouldn't be as bad as problem 1, except that the playlist editor won't let me move the playlists around any longer. In 2.0.2., I could just drag-and-drop. If I try that now, the only thing that happens is that both the playlist and the destination-folder are marked as selected but nothing else happens. Oh, and the "My playlists" seems to be a lot slower too. Still, those two problems not-withstanding: I love the direction Amarok is going - even though I was a sceptic the first time I used the 2.x series. Using the 1.x series for so long kinda does that to you I guess
