Hi there
I was playing around with a fresh Amarok 2 installation (as I just installed the RC Ubuntu 9.04) and installed a plugin that would allow Amarok to communicate with Pidgin. This, however, immediately made Amarok 2 crash and right now it crashes upon execution. Now I figure there's a config file somewhere where I can turn off the Pidgin plugin, so that Amarok 2 boots again. But where? |

Here's a bug report about this issue:
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=182810 PS: The file you want to edit is "amarokrc".

Thanks for the response. I solved things by just deleting the .kde/share/apps/amarok folder, but your suggestion sounds better in case it happens again

I removed amarok with package manager and issued a search on file names with "amarok", resulting in: /usr/share/app-install/desktop/kde4_amarok.desktop /usr/share/app-install/icons/amarok.xpm /var/cache/apt/archives/amarok-common_2%3a2.0.2mysql5.1.30-0ubuntu3_all.deb /var/cache/apt/archives/amarok_2%3a2.0.2mysql5.1.30-0ubuntu3_i386.deb /var/lib/dpkg/info/amarok.list /var/lib/dpkg/info/amarok.postrm After reinstalling amarok, it still crashes upon launch. Any suggestions? |

The amarokrc file is located in your home folder and no need to remove amarok or to look for entries in the system folder, you can do this as a normal user. Just exit Amarok if it is playing and type in the following command on the command line:
rm ~/.kde/share/config/amarokrc You can actually copy&paste the command to make it easier.
Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ... |
