This is going to sound painfully obvious to anybody who develops amaroK, but can somebody tell me how to build version 1.4.9? I downloaded the sources at anonsvn.kde.org/home/kde/tags/amarok/1.4.9/multimedia/amarok , and they say to use the configure file, which isn't there. It doesn't seem like this build uses the newer cmake system, and all the scripts I have found with this release were meant for developers so they could automate making tar balls and so... Anyways, I would really appreciate if someone could point me in the right direction. Thanks in advance.

What distro are you using? There are several pre-made builds of 1.4.9 for ubuntu/kubuntu.

I'm on Kubuntu jaunty... They do have packages for my distribution, but I would like to run the older version, for which no package is available.
Well, I figured out I had to get kde-common/admin but now I get the error m4_defn: undefined macro: _m4_divert_diversion ... I'll keep working on it. Thanks for the reply. |

Actually that is where you are wrong, there are many ppa repos which allows you to downgrade to 1.4.9.
https://launchpad.net/~bogdanb/+archive/ppa deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/bogdanb/ppa/ubuntu jaunty main deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/bogdanb/ppa/ubuntu jaunty main You must remove all of amarok2 first. |

Really? I had managed to compile it, but this is much better than having to maintain my own build! Thank you!

I'd just like to point out that the "current" version of 1.4 is 1.4.10 -- you're better off using that that 1.4.9 as it has a number of bug fixes (the wikipedia one in particular).
