Massivly **** because of scripts

Sun Apr 26, 2009 12:26 am
I just upgraded to ubuntu 9.04 (kde).  the new format of amarok threw me for a few moments but okay, I got use to it.  I tried adding some scripts (applets?) and now the Friggin thing will not start.

It begins, I see the splash screen, I see even the damn main window, but then it closes.  I watch this happen even in system monitor.

I went to the extreme, I uninstalled and installed (after a system shut down) and it still will not work.

I REFUSE to reinstall the OS so please tell me how I can clear out all the scripts (It worked before I added them) so I can start (again) with a basic run of the program.

Sorry, for your trouble. Something appears to be wrong with the script bindings packaging on Ubuntu.

Anyway, you can get rid of the scripts by editing or deleting amarokrc:

$HOME/.kde/share/config/amarokrc

how do you go about deleting that amarokrc file? I don't know how to do that.

Open a konsole and type exactly the following line:

rm ~/.kde/share/config/amarokrc

You can simply copy+paste this into the command line:
- select the above line,
- copy it with the Ctrl+C key combination,
- go to the Konsole window and insert the line with the middle button of your mouse,
- type return.

Alternatively, if this mouse function is not enabled, you can insert the line with the Ctrl+Shift+V key combination.

Then you should be able to start Amarok again.

Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ...
