I just upgraded to ubuntu 9.04 (kde). the new format of amarok threw me for a few moments but okay, I got use to it. I tried adding some scripts (applets?) and now the Friggin thing will not start.
It begins, I see the splash screen, I see even the damn main window, but then it closes. I watch this happen even in system monitor. I went to the extreme, I uninstalled and installed (after a system shut down) and it still will not work. I REFUSE to reinstall the OS so please tell me how I can clear out all the scripts (It worked before I added them) so I can start (again) with a basic run of the program. |

Sorry, for your trouble. Something appears to be wrong with the script bindings packaging on Ubuntu.
Anyway, you can get rid of the scripts by editing or deleting amarokrc: $HOME/.kde/share/config/amarokrc

how do you go about deleting that amarokrc file? I don't know how to do that.

Open a konsole and type exactly the following line: rm ~/.kde/share/config/amarokrc You can simply copy+paste this into the command line: - select the above line, - copy it with the Ctrl+C key combination, - go to the Konsole window and insert the line with the middle button of your mouse, - type return. Alternatively, if this mouse function is not enabled, you can insert the line with the Ctrl+Shift+V key combination. Then you should be able to start Amarok again.

FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ... |
