Hi and first of all thanks a lot for the absolutely superb music player AMAROK! I have used 1.4 for a long time and absolutely love it. Now I have installed kubuntu 9.0.4 so I thought it's time to try Amarok 2.
I have a few problems, however.
I use the .asoundrc below:

#########################################################
#This is the standard setting (see: "!default")
#This profile, the default loaded, upmixes stereo sound to 5.1.

pcm.!default {
        type plug
        slave.pcm "surround51"
        slave.channels 6
        route_policy duplicate
}
########################################################
#This is the normal spdif output profile (optical, toslink).

pcm.!spdif {
    type plug
    slave.pcm "hw:0,1"
}

#######################################################
#This is what one could call the "factory default setting", in other words, it only plays the actual channels. so if you fx want to watch a 5.1 movie, on the analog output, this is the option you want.

pcm.analog {
    type plug
    slave analog_slave;
}

pcm_slave.analog_slave {
        pcm surround51;
        format S32_LE;
}

This seems to give me 5.1 sound in f.ex. VLC player but in Amarok it does nothing. I get stereo and in VERY low volume. Is there anything else I have to do?

Also I have a quite large collected but amarok 1.4 always loaded it in maybe 10 mins. Amarok 2 took several hours to load it. What might cause this?

Ok. I solved the 5.1 problem. It was just my settings in kmix I had to change.

I am still wondering why it was soooo slow adding the songs though. Is it because of the SQL embedded backend (I used to use postgresql) ?
