I'm on Fedora Linux 10 using Amarok 1.4.10 and EasyTag to edit mp3 files.
After a session of cleaning up genres yesterday, I asked Amarok to rescan my entire collection. When I returned to it today, some files failed to read the id3 tag information stored in their files and I started using EasyTag to locate and fix problems. Amarok 1.4 is unable to recognize the id3 information i put in some files. 1. I use EasyTag or Kid3 to view and edit tag information and the files and tag information looks good. 2. I can use the id3info command line program to view tag information and it looks good again. 3. I can use Amarok to play music from these files and they play fine suggesting they are not corrupt. 4. If I make changes in either EasyTag or Kid3 they are not recognized by Amarok. 5. I'm using one album for testing and after re-writing all track information for that album about half the tracks do not show up correctly. 6. Amarok appears to be using my filenames' formats (02 - SongTitle, for example) to place "02" in the artist name and "SongTitle" in the track name but ignores the tag information all other programs show is in those files. 7. At this point I'm wondering if a library update to something external to Amarok occured and broke some of Amarok's functionality. But I'm not sure what to look for so I'm hoping others will have suggestions for me. Any help will be appreciated as I'm running in circles at this point. Thanks!! |
