It was pretty straight forward in amarok 1.x...  But since upgrading to 9.04, I'm having a time trying to figure it out.  Can someone please give me a quick howto?

I'd like to bump this. I'm struggling as well with the same issue.

The iPod mounts but it shows up as a collection. I can't find anything that talks about devices in the menus or preferences. No status about how full the device is. No eject button. On top of that, I'm able to find nothing in the help.

There seems to be lots of features missing going from 1.x to 2.0.

Thank you very much.

Well that's a shame to get no response.

Anyway, I found this post that explains how to downgrade back to Amarok 1.4 on Ubuntu 9.04 without all the missing features and problems. Hopefully this will help some people:
http://nomad.ca/blog/2009/apr/3/amarok- ... buntu-904/

Code: Select all
gksu gedit /etc/apt/sources.list.d/amarok.list

Add these two lines:
Code: Select all
deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/bogdanb/ppa/ubuntu jaunty main
deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/bogdanb/ppa/ubuntu jaunty main

Add the key for the PPA:

Code: Select all
sudo apt-key adv --recv-keys --keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com 0x1d7e9dd033e89ba781e32a24b9f1c432ae74ae63

Now update your sources, remove Amarok2 and install Amarok1.4:

Code: Select all
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get remove amarok
sudo apt-get install amarok14

Oh, and how fast do you expect an answer, within five minutes? Patience is a virtue, and this is not paid support AFAIK.

BTW, if you read the latest developer blogs you would know that media support in Amarok 2 is work in progress and currently worked on in a GSoC project, so expect new development soon :)

Also, I strongly recommend to upgrade to Amarok 2.1, the 2.0.2 version is quite old already...

Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ...

That was surprisingly hostile. I didn't mean for anyone to take offense. I also don't think that 24 hours was an unreasonable amount of time to hope for some type of a response. TheBigAmbulance's question went unanswered for a month.

Regardless, I did not know about the summer of code project. I guess I should blame my distro for including by default a newer version of the application with reduced features.

Amarok 1.4 is the best media player I have ever used, by a very large margin. That's the only reason I'm so hard on Amarok 2.x. Especially since without media support it's useless to me. I'm anxious to see what develops.

Thank you for your response.
