Since upgrading to 2.09, most problems have disappeared. Scrobbling works, and the Music Explorer Playlist plugin works great! However, if I listen to something on the web before starting up Amarok, there is no sound in Amarok. If I start up Amarok first, no sound anywhere else.
This is most frustrating, but I've done a search and don't see anyone else with precisely this problem. Amarok Version 2.0.90 Using KDE 4.2.3 (KDE 4.2.3) in Jaunty Kubuntu, using Xine backend |

Re: Either Amarok 2.09 has sound, or everything else does -- but never BOTH

This is a problem with your distribution, Ubuntu. You need to get rid of Pulseaudio as it doesn't work with the phonon-xine-backend, or use Pulseaudio together with the phonon-gstreamer-backend only. With a disclaimer: gstreamer is quite buggy, so it's not really the backend we recommend for now.
Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ... |

Yikes, I'm so confused. Is it better to remove Pulseaudio? I'll try that first, since I know how to do that -- and I can put it back if removing it breaks stuff.
But how would I go about using it with the phonon-gstreamer-backend. Is that a choice I can make in the Configuration menu in Amarok? Where I saw phonon-xine, there did not appear to be any other choices. Off to remove Pulseaudio...... |

SOLVED: Either Amarok 2.09 has sound, or everything else does -- but never BOTH

Pulseaudio is gone, along with Ubuntu desktop -- I hope I didn't need the latter! The problem appears to be solved, with a little test of a video on YouTube and then Amarok -- sound on both.
Thanks so much. |
