hi,
whenever I open the cover manager and hit "Fetch Missing Covers" Amarok hangs for a couple seconds after having fetched about 4-5 covers, then stops looking. The button "fetch missing covers" remains greyed out, however. Also, it tells me there are only 12 covers missing, even though most of them are. Is this a known bug, or am I doing something wrong? Amarok version: 2.0.2 running on Fedora 10 thanks, Dominik btw does Amarok actually look for cover art inside of the mp3? |

I have no idea how to use the thing.
It does not give me any info at all. And the question you posted, does it get album art info from the mpr itself, or the folder where the mp3s are kept, has the album art info in JPEGs, It should get the info from there!! Does it? I use Kubuntu 9.04, KDE 4.x Thank you, for your time. |

Actually, the information we need most is your exact Amarok version... JFYI: we had to change the source from which Amarok fetches covers, as Amazon changed their API. Covers are now fetched from last.fm, which is already implemented in Amarok 2.2 beta 1, to be released later this week. If you would need it for the earlier version Amarok 2.1.1, you need to ask your distribution packagers to apply the available patch.
Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ... |

is there a patch for Amarok 1.4.9.1 on KDE 3.5.10 to switch to the Last.fm album fetcher or a script I can install?

many thanks for the link I will check it out
that's how I found this post! apologies for not searching hard enough - but there are quite a few users on quite a few forums with the same queries - most think that it's broken and have no idea of the change to Last.fm cover manager - for such a major and obvious to the user change in functionality I would have expected a more prominent announcement/link to more info? |

ooops! I'd already checked that link out.
I have absolutely no idea how to compile anything never mind patching it!- that's why I was hoping for a script I could just install thru the Script Manager - never mind - I suppose I can live without it - just a shame for such a fab piece of software - thanks for your help anyways |

JFYI: we do not provide packages or patches for the specific distributions, it's up to the distributions to apply the patches. Please ask them, they have been informed. Also we just prepared Amarok 2.2 beta 1, which should be available any day now from your distribution. So think twice before you blame somebody... calling a missing feature a shame is a shame to hear from a user IMHO. Did you ever think of the amount of manpower and time needed to make such a software?

blame???? I'm not blaming anyone! - I know Open Source relies upon the kindness and hard work of many individuals and groups which I appreciate and have the utmost respect for. You have obviously misinterpreted my posting and 'JFYI' I have thought about "the amount of manpower and time needed to make such a software" so no need to be so condescending and abusive.

I just installed Neon today - didn't like the fact that Version: 2:2.1mysql5.1.30-0ubuntu2~jaunty2 can't play music CDs. Neon does, and that's great. In the earlier release of Amarok (1.x), IIRC, album art was read right off of the CD. Why isn't that the case still? The appropriate tags are on music CDs, so why can't they be utilized?

Reinstalled Kubuntu Jaunty 9.04 KDE 4.3.2. Amarok 2.1 installed. Installed mtpfs and mtp-tools and now Amarok sees/connects to my Sansa SanDisk e200 mp3 player. I can transfer my music from the player to the Playlist. Works great!
But, still no cover art. Amarok doesn't pick them up from the player (they are there) and the Cover Manager doesn't retrieve them from the 'Net either. That's disappointing. I read that in 2.2 cover art from ipods works. So, why not other mp3 players? What's with that?

The whole story: 2.1 uses Amazon for cover fetching. They changed their API -> it all broke. 2.2.0 uses Last.fm for covers, works again. But has one bug that makes it stop when a cover was not found. 2.2.1 fixes all of that.

Fetching covers from metadata is simply not yet implemented. Most of the framework is there, just a tiny bit of code is missing. Patches welcome.

Old post but still helped me out. I'm running openSuse 11.2 and Amarok 2.1.1 came as the default install, thought the reason for cover manager fetch not working was dependences, and stuffed around with that for a while. So thanks for the info on this Mamarok. Just installed 2.3.0 buy searching for amarok in webpin though Yast. So now it works a treat.
Found in http://download.opensuse.org/repositori ... nSUSE_11.2 Could add this to your repositorys Mamarok, DIL23, you both have vaild points now kiss and makeup! |
