I found 3 Bugs(?) in Amarok Version 2.1 (final)
First, please look at my screenschot: 1. Look at [1] of this photo. Amarok does not show my local collection of music (in German: "Lokale Sammlung"). When I click on it, nothing happen. There is only the Information "count" (in German: "Zählen"). In Amarok 2.0.* it had worked. [update: solved!] 2. When I click on the plus Button for more widgets, it shows an "x" and an "arrow down" (Look at [2] and [3] of thias photo.). Now, I click on the "x", and nothing happen. When I click on the "arrow down" Amarok will crash and I have to restart Amarok. [update: solved!] 3. The third Bug is, that Amarok always stop the Music when I am playing Last.fm. It always stop at the end of every song. And I have to click on the "next" button to play the next song. But this problem is still until the last Amarok Version of 2.0.* [update: I've opened a new thread for this problem]

I noticed the same problem with the center pane too
Amarok crashes when I click the arrow (and is the center pane suppose to look like that?) |

it looks like a Suse packaging problem to me.

mikkoc I have the same problems as MatzUp
and I'm using Arch Linux 64-bit (KDE 4.2.3)... the official package and the svn build from yesterday have the same problems.. |

The SUSE package seems to have a problem: Sometimes MySQL (which is a dependency) is not automatically installed. This will typically cause the symptoms that you listed above.
Installing MySQL should fix your issues.

Thank you very much. To install MySQL solved the first both problems!!
But the problem with Last.fm is still there. It stops after every song.

hi. I can confirm this bug. using OpenSuse11.1 with KDE4.2.3.
The center panel doesn't work. just shows this green background. when I click "add aplet" nothings shows up. just the red close bottom and the green triangle to scroll down. when click on this botton, amarok crashes. |

@choronzon
Please read the whole thread before you write your comment. For this Problem we had already found the solution: Install "MySQL" and it will works!

I think thats the fix just for the bug about not having a collection. it was an old bug in the opensuse package and I have mysql installed since the betas and I did fix it. but the center panel bug is a new one and I don't think it has anything to do with mysql. |

I can confirm the center panel bug in Arch 64 as well. For me it was fixed temporarily in 2.0.96-1, then broken again in 2.0.96-2 and 2.1-1. However I apparently just fixed it by rolling back to the oldest version of amarok 2 on my system (2.0.2-2) where it seems the center panel was handled differently. Then installing 2.1 from there, has the center panel working again just as it was in 2.0.96-1.
Update: This might possibly be related to mysql after all (even though I already had it installed back in the days of amarok 1.4.10). Rolling back to 2.0.2 reset my collection to 0 tracks and I am now rescanning. I'll report if this bug reappears after it's done. Update 2: Rescan complete and restarted amarok, center panel still works. So far so good.

It's a bit irritating, that MatzUp didn't have mysql installed, although he had version 2.0.* installed.
Anyway, thanks to his help and a bit of Mark it seems to be solved (for him), although I prefer some db problems/changes. But counting only three bugs in amarok is very optimistic. Would be nice and would make the developers very happy, I think. In reality I've got this (on SVN, but should be very close to 2.1): Adding tracks to the playlist starts playback. Doesn't matter, if appended, added or sorted in between. Thanks for taking out the 60+ tracks code. Scanning of newly added tracks is way faster than in previous versions, but on start-up amarok scans the collection on an external HDD. Resizing of applets still doesn't work, making the CV looking empty. The bug with the total height of all applets being bigger than the height of the maximum window size seems to be fixed. The option to hide the context view has been added to the config options, although I still would prefer the open/close button. End of playback doesn't update the statusline, always showing the last played track. Playing time shown in status line sometimes not calculated correctly. The layout problems I've described in another topic persists (minor, because my own layout) Deactivating/unchecking file browser to be shown is ignored on restart. No icons in compilations (although organized as normal albums, one image per folder) No import of last.fm stats (Oops, that is on my wishlist) But I can't see any showstoppers for me. Thanks for fine work and not throwing me off the forum Have a nice weekend m0nk

After I installed MySQL and restar amarok the problem with the collection was solved, and also the crashing center-panel works fine after that.
My Amarok Version ist 2.1-1.2 (from 03.Jun.2009 20:27:56 CEST) And I installed it from http://download.opensuse.org/repositori ... SUSE_11.1/

Hey Arch users if you are using 64-bit and kdemod, the problem will disappear when 4.2.4
appears in the chakra-project's repos (amarok in extra is compiled against kde 4.2.4 and it won't work correctly with 4.2.3) |
