I have been using the previous versions of amarok also. The problem I encounter is that I never get to play any songs using amarok. When I build playlists of many songs or just a single song, the player just goes by each song but does not play any. Can anybody help me over this problem.

You need to install the mp3 codecs I guess. And make sure you use the phonon-xine-backend, as gstreamer is quite buggy.
