Hi,
When I install Amarok 2.1 and launch it for the first time it seems to wipe the previous DB and rescan my local music collection. The problem with this is that I lose all the ratings that I have made over the last year or so. Is this a known issue and if so is it just a causality of the upgrade (i.e. has there been a change in DB layout)? Amarok 2.1 looks great but I'd really prefer not have to listen to all my music to re-rate which are my favourites! |

If you didn't remove the database, it's unlikely that your ratings got lost. Check here: ~/.kde/share/apps/amarok/mysqle/amarok/
If you used KDE 4.1.x on Kubuntu Intrepid before the upgrade, it's probably still in ~/.kde4/share/apps/amarok/mysqle/amarok, unless you removed that folder
Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ... |

I had the same problem and with over 8,000 rated tracks going back and re-rating them all is not an option for me. I really need to import them all from the old collection.

I have a backup of this dir from before the upgrade but if I copy these back over the current ones, Amarok just rescans my local collection again on startup. Maybe I can try just copy over the DB files that store the ratings. Are they kept in tracks.* ? |

I'll save you the effort, if you do this you'll likely have amarok crash again after reloading and need to rescan the whole database. I tried it and had no luck.
You could try the instructions here: http://amarok.kde.org/forum/index.php/t ... 966.0.html to try and merge the statistics from your backed up db into the newly built one. I was unable to get it to work, but then again, I know nothing about mysql. |
