hi :)
I've searched the forum and found nothing that could help, so here is the thing.

yesterday I installed linux mint 7 ("gloria") that is in some part based on ubuntu jaunty. with it I got amarok 2 in repositories to install, and I am sorry to say that, but I really don't like amarok 2. I am not saying it sucks - just I dislike it.

I found many sites over internet, how to install older amarok, 1.4, that worked perfectly on my previous system, so here is one how-to-do it, that I've seen on at least 10 pages and manuals:
http://nomad.ca/blog/2009/apr/3/amarok- ... buntu-904/
Here are the steps I took:

Add the PPA to your sources by creating a new file for the Amarok PPA:

gksu gedit /etc/apt/sources.list.d/amarok.list

Then in that new file add the following two lines:

deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/bogdanb/ppa/ubuntu jaunty main
deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/bogdanb/ppa/ubuntu jaunty main

Add the key for the PPA:

sudo apt-key adv --recv-keys --keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com \
0x1d7e9dd033e89ba781e32a24b9f1c432ae74ae63

Now update your sources, remove Amarok2 and install Amarok1.4:

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get remove amarok
sudo apt-get install amarok14

but, it isn't working for me, because when I try to do update, I get
W: Failed to fetch http://ppa.launchpad.net/bogdanb/ppa/ub ... /jaunty/... Unable to find expected entry jaunty/binary-i386/Packages in Meta-index file (malformed Release file?)

E: Some index files failed to download, they have been ignored, or old ones used instead.

I tried also something different: downloaded deb packages from
https://launchpad.net/~bogdanb/+archive/ppa,
chose
amarok - 2:1.4.10-0ubuntu3~ppa3
but could only install amarok-common, not the xine and other one :-/

so my question is, do you have any idea what may be going wrong, and second: is there any other way to install old amarok?

thank you.
