I just upgraded from Amarok 2.0.2 to 2.1 and I have lost all of my statistics ie. ratings, play counts, last played, etc.
The first time I launched Amarok after upgrading it failed with a SIGSEGV fault. After this I was able to launch it, however, without any database. After the database is rebuilt it finds all of the tracks and can play them without problem. Please help as I have a large database and I use my ratings to create playlists, so without it I'm lost. The same thing happened when I tried to upgrade to the previous 2.1 beta (2.0.90) I'd really like to get this sorted as 2.1 looks (otherwise) much better than 2.0.2 Kubuntu Jaunty 64 bit KDE 4.2.3 Amarok 2.1 Thanks |

Same thing happened to me, and it causes me pain. But I've not heard of a way to restore the ratings and such that I'm capable of doing.

I was able to get them back by switching back to 2.0.2, thankfully I backed up my collection beforehand.
But this is weird, surely the 2.1 version should be able to read the collection created by 2.0.2?! I didn't have any problem moving from 1.4 to 2.0.2 so this is quite strange. |

Well, there is a known bug when importing from 1.4: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=174444, but if you experience this within Amarok 2.x (from 2.0.2 to 2.1 or 2.1.1), you should definitely report a bug.
Be aware that switching from 2.1 to 2.2 there is a database version changing, so for the moment there is no way to keep the information when switching to the next version. Make sure to backup all your database before upgrading, we are working on a way to import ratings and statistics in the future.
Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ... |

interestingly enough I didn't have any issue in upgrading from 1.4 to 2.0.2 I kept all of my playcounts/ratings, etc. The only problem I've had is upgrading from 2.0.2 to anything greater.
I upgraded my gf's version of amarok and didn't have the same issues (on a 32 bit system) so I'm thinking it might just be an issue with the 64 bit version. |

Losing statistics is an annoying problem, I have since 1.4. I don't have lost them updating from 2.0x to 2.1x, but from 2.1.1 to 2.2. That is a svn version for now, so it doesn't count. If there are changes in the database, amarok should dump the statistics table(s), the only interesting for me, and reimport it/them in the new version transparently. Most users don't care about the db layout, so they won't have backups. Especially if there's no option in the GUI to create them.
My old collection.db contains only playcounts in the stats table (imported from last.fm by a script). Scores and ratings are then computed by sql statements. I have a dream, that Amarok is able to import last.fm XML files, as it imports iTunes XML based database. Perhaps I'll take a look on the iTunes import code this weekend m0nk

For me it is more than annoying. I have a really large collection so I use the ratings daily to create playlists and manage my ipod so until I can upgrade w/o losing them I'm stuck at version 2.0.2 which kind of sucks as last.fm scrobbling doesn't work in this version.
I originally used a script in 1.4 to import all of my stats from my old itunes db and that worked like a charm. However, I haven't used itunes (or windows!!) for several months now so that db is totally out of date now. I wish I was more computer literate and could help to figure out what the problem is but unfortunately I'm just a user, not a developer! |
