i got a ipod classic 80gb and it works fine i belive you need to use amaork 1.4 to set it up or use some other console tool to grab the devices firewireid
which goes in the ipod's /iPod_Control/Device/SysInfo file as well as the modelnumstr for it it should be formated kinda like this ModelNumStr: xB029 FirewireGuid: 000A2700132B0824 replaceing my ModelNumStr with your and finding your ipod FirewireGuid to reaplce with my. |

I see here that is a problem of Amarok in Ubuntu:

I tried Kubuntu 9.10 with Amarok preinstalled on VirtualBox and it works fine.
