I would like to use my iPod (Video 30Gb) in Linux, but need instructions on how to get Amarok to recognise it

there is not help file and I can't find any simple instructions anywhere(!)

I have read various froum threads but they don't make any sense to me

do I have to mount the iPod first, if so how do I do this (I can use the terminal window if there are straightforward commands that I can copy and type in

I am using Amarok 2.0.2 and KDE 4.2.2 with Mandriva 2009.1
