I recently installed Ubuntu Linux 9.04 Jaunty Jackalope (with Gnome/GTK2+) on an AMD64-X2 machine with NVidia GPU.

When I also installed Amarok and put together a database of media files I discovered that it doesn't play anything, regardless of file format. Nothing happens, not even the "progress" meter moves or anything. If I struggle around trying to make it play it eventually crashes.

I've tried with different kernels, ALSA drivers and PulseAudio yielding the same results.
