No media device option.

Wed Jul 08, 2009 11:06 am
Okay so i am running Linux Mint 7 and have Amarok 2.1.1. I have an ipod 1st gen running the 2.2.1 software so you could say that its the 2nd gen. My problem is that i can't find the media device option in my tabs in the settings. I'm not sure what to do and ive searched all over Google to see if anyone else is having this problem and might have found a solution. This is my last hope and i really need some help. Please if you have any suggestions such as install packages or anything please let me know i need help.

No need for any options. If the package for mint is ok, you plug it in and it appars as a collection in the collection browser. There migh be problems with newer iPods.
Unfortunately you didn't announce what kind of iPod you're using.

Amarok uses libgpod for accessing the iPod. Current is 0.7.2.
As far as I know, iPhone and iPod Touch needs special attention (jailbreak) to get it working. But with your firmware update to 2.x... you're out, it's not supported.
Unfortunately Apple tries to exclude any 3rd party software.
I've a 5.5th generation iPod Video. Next player won't be an Apple.

I would have recommended Floola as an alternative, but after checking the site, it can't handle iPhone and iPod Touch, too.
Sorry, but shame on Apple.
