A bit of experience with A2 again

Sat Jul 11, 2009 1:14 pm
It's some kind of status, although some bugs are from SVN.
Usability:
-when adding songs to the playlist using the "Head-up", Amarok
starts playing pronto. But I want to add all tracks, arrange them and then listen
to them.
-No artists in collection browser->compilations, so you need to load them into
the playlist or open the metadata via context menu.

Bugs not solved:
-Last song played is counted twice
-Last song stays in status bar, even after finished playing
-Applets still can't be vertically resized (Albums)
-Own playlist layout unreadable when no cover present, just stripes
Layout below, nothing special, a bit of Excel Style:

Requests:
-"Column" width in playlist layout autoadjust?
-Last.fm caching, if not online (old submit.xml)?
-Direct access to collection via dbus
-Import of last.fm stats via weekly xml files

SVN:
-Amarok searches in $HOME or Places (hardcoded) again, even if not wanted
-"Stop after current track" indicator appears twice in the head and in the track row if track is the first under head (default layout)
-Ghost entry: Unknown artist/Unknown album/Unknown track is back.
-Sort option doesn't work:
Amarok always plays in order of the tracknumbers
add a whole album, sort it by trackname: Amarok will stop after the highest track number
-Amarok eats up memory, it even forces swapping (4GB installed)
-Widgets of the top bar disappear, until mouse over (typical for running out of memory), the longer amarok runs.
New browser layout, but this is discussed on another topic

Dieter, I think this would be much more appreciated in the mailing list amarok@kde.org, I very much doubt that this helps here. You can check the current open bugs list here: http://tinyurl.com/ourbugs, so you will see that we are well aware of the existing bugs. A forum is certainly not the right place to report bugs or wishes.

And don't worry, we are working on those, if only we had more developers...

Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ...

The Help forum should be used for bugs. Take a look at the explaination.
But my posts aren't intended as bug reports, feature requests or anything addressed to the developers. It's just an overview for me and maybe some users to see the current and in case of SVN the upcoming state and features of Amarok.
But perhaps it fits better in General.

That layout is flawed in that it will _only_ show anything for tracks that are part of an album group (notice how you only have a layout description in

This means that nothing will be drawn for track not part of a group. You need to, at the very lest, copy all the stuff from  into  as well. This will make grouped and ungrouped track appear similar.

This is not a bug, this is a case of the layout being rendered exactly as you specified in the file. :-)

Thank you Nikolaj,
the layout wasn't built by hand, but with the layout editor. I then changed the alignment to left manually afterwards.
