Hi everyone.
Can anybody clarify what is going on with ID tags? Up until now I had been using easytag (http://easytag.sourceforge.net/) to keep things straight na d it pretty much worked. Now things are really out of hand. Easytag displays tags correctly but amarok displays ?'s To make matters worse Dolphin and Nautilus appear to display (same between them but) different from amarok's and easytag's results. Thanassis |

Hm, what Amarok version are you talking about? If it's Amarok 2.1.x, you should erase your database: just delete the ~/.kde/share/apps/amarok/mysqle/ folder and rescan your collection, There was a database problem betweeen 2.0.x and 2.1.x. Beware, deleting that folder will also erase the rations and scores.
Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ... |

I continuously have problems with tags with 2.1.1. Isn't it possible to solve some other way? Statistics are fundamental (score is already lost due to problems upgrading from 1.4 to 2.0), I don't want to loose ratings and the rest as well... Not even waiting for newer versions?

There's a bug in 2.1.1 that sometimes non-latin chars are shown as ?'s. Either downgrade to 2.1 or wait for 2.2
Deleting of your database does NOT help. m0nk

Well, the problem is that I notice some artists' name is changed to that of others, and things like this. Fortunately, I see the tag itself is not changed, it is only Amarok which reads something different. If I take the same file and load it in iTunes, it is displayed correctly with correct tags. Re-scanning the collection seems not to solve.

As written many times before, A2 does not change the tags in the files, unless you want it.
Strange enough is that your 2.1.1 still has problems with your collection besides the ?'s. That should be solved. Can you post your distribution, plz. Which version of id3 are you using from within easytag? I'm using easytag, too and don't have any problems at all. You can select, that easytag corrects illegal chars automatically. m0nk

My distribution is Kubuntu 9.04. I'm not using easytag. How can I find out the version of the ID3, sorry for the ignorance. Anyway, this collection had no problems with Amarok 1.4. Anyway, with another scan, the problem is solved. It seems anyway that sometimes this happens. Maybe adding new songs to the database or organizing it.

Soory, my fault. Havn't seen that you're not the originator of this posting.
Amarok uses id3 version 2.4 for tagging. There are still changes in the database-layout, so sometimes the collection gets messed up. Although I must say that most problems occur with Ubuntu. Maybe it's because it's widely used, maybe it's because... well.

So it is not necessary to remove my database right? Is it only necessary to wait for a newer version?
Thanks for your help! |
