I have been looking through every menu I can think of, but can not find any easy way of re-indexing my collection. The database is messed up, and I really want to dump everything, including the information on where to look, and get it scanned again.
As far as I know, the version is 2.1, I am on Kubuntu 9.04 with KDE 4.3rc2. If no such option exist today, maybe I should enter it as a feature option In general, Amarok works very well, with some strange things now and then. I will report it after I have sorted out the database.

Settings->Collection.
But perhaps it's better to remove $HOME/.kde/share/apps/amarok/mysqle/amarok. This will result in losing your statistics, too. So backup. m0nk

Does not seem to do anything except rescanning and ending up with the same mess....
This would probably work, but I am hesitant to start doing this as I suspect it will have to be done every day to fix things... Not a good way of working... I would prefer helping to find out what is wrong and then getting it fixed. Do you know if there has been any bugs reported regarding this?

Don't know what version of A2 built your collection initially, but there were some changes in database layout between 2.0x and 2.1x. So it's easier to rebuild your collection from scratch.
And no, you don't need to do that every day (fingers crossed). Although there were several issues with the Ubuntu packages. m0nk

Updated to Amarok 2.1.1, KDE 4.3 on Kubuntu 9.04.
Added a lot of songs to the collection by adding more folders with albums to the main collection folder. Amarok discovers after a little while that new material is present and adds it. But today Amarok did a rescan and decided that the last stuff I added yesterday should be added again, so now many of my artists appear twice with the same albums listed under both appearances. So I guess it is time to dump the database again... Wish this one would be fixed permanently

This is already fixed in the upcoming Amarok 2.2, just a little patience.
Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ... |

Best news so far today
Do you have an estimated release time? (nothing I am going to hold you to, just want to know how patience I need to be...)

Well, I think one can expect a first beta in a few weeks, but don't ask me how many weeks
