when i'm editing a file's tag in amarok, why doesn't it honor the capitalization that i specify? for example, i tried tagging a group of files with the artist "KEN Mode", but it just saves as "Ken Mode", no matter what i try. is there a switch somewhere?

I suggest your music is on a vfat formatted device, which is mounted with "shortnames=lower" causing the files to be saved in this way. So check your distri's behaviour.

my music's on an nfs mount on a remote computer, which isn't vfat. even if it were, why would it affect how tags are stored?

Are we talking about filenames or tags?

Oh yes, sorry. Just have reread your first post. I'm using easytag for this job, so I really don't know. But it should be a bug in my opinion. I've renamed a track to uppercase in 2.2-git and it worked. Perhaps it is solved in 2.1.1, but it is solved in 2.2-git.
Sorry again for misunderstanding your post. m0nk
