Rescan does not clean database

Thu Aug 20, 2009 12:38 am
I have had this problem before, and then someone commented that I hopefully did not have to delete the database again.

Sorry to say, those hopes are crushed. After adding some more material to the main folder of my collection, many of the artists (only the latest ones added) appear twice in my collection list in Amarok. They only exist once on the harddrive, but during a rescan Amarok has decided to add them again...

It is annoying especially since you loose all extra data (ratings, last played etc.) when you delete your database. Yes, there are some hoops you can jump through to keep it, but this should not be necessary.

Why not just add a function that actually wipes ALL data exept the extra data, do a full rescan and then link up the extradata to the songs? Of course with an option to dump the extradata as well.

If this is what the normal rescan collection is supposed to do, could someone take a look at it and find out what is wrong?

I guess I will be deleting the database again...

... or wait patiently for Amarok 2.2 where this is solved :)

Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ...
