Hi,
I have been using KDE for about four years, since I first began using linux. I have tried to use Amarok in the past but found it to be difficult to use for me. I finally decided that I needed to master it, so I am asking for help here. So, lets start with the first problem that I have. When I open up amarok, I move a file to the part of amarok where it is supposed to play them. It begins to play them, as I can see the sound meter indicating that it is playing the file. However, it doesn't make any sound over the loudspeakers. I have managed to get around this in the past and get the file to play over the loudspeakers by playing around with amarok. Mostly, it seemed that I had to close the program and restart it, then the files would play automatically. But, it isn't doing that now. To me, a usability feature of Amarok would be that it would just play the files I want when I move them to the portion of the gui where they are supposed to play, without additional configuration. But obviously, I am missing something simple because of a lack of a computer background. So, if the members of the forum could help me to see my oversight in this matter and enable me to overcome this simple problem, I would be obliged. Thanks |

Well, what about starting to tell us which exact Amarok, KDE and distribution version you are talking about?
FWIW, from your description this sounds like you are missing the necessary codecs to play, but unless you tell us at least the version and distribution we can't really tell you how to solve that, sorry.
Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ... |

Hi,
thanks for taking time last week to respond to my request for help by asking for more information. I worked on the problem myself by looking online to find an answer from other users who might have had the same problem. I downloaded the amarok package from a different repository and reinstalled it on my computer. Now the program works, so the problem is solved. Thanks |
