I'm not sure what else to tell you.
I'm mostly trying to listen to mp3s. sometimes a little box in the corner says "too many errors to play"...? |

Well, you need to install the libxine1-ffmpeg package in Kubuntu to play mp3 tracks, mp3 this is a patented technology and the distributions do not install codecs by default for that reason.
Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ... |

I have the same problem, installing "Ubuntu restricted extras" does not fix it.

Oh, sorry, I thought you were using KDE by default
To have Amarok work under Gnome, you need to install the following packages: libphonon4, but I guess that is already a dependency for Amarok, phonon-backend-xine, libxine1-ffmpeg for the mp3 codecs (Note: ubuntu-restricted-extras doesn't install the codecs for xine but for gstreamer only, to have all restricted codecs for KDE that would rather be kubuntu-restricted extras) then configure phonon correctly: kcmshell4 kcm_phonon in a terminal should get you to the phonon configuration. Alternatively, installing the systemsettings package should work, too.

Oookkk.
This is done through the terminal?
Like that? I'm pretty noobish... |

Well, you can also do this in a GUI application like Synaptic which is the default package manager for Gnome
But yes, exactly like this
