Hello,
I installed the Amarok 2.1.80 from sources on Kubuntu Jaunty. The Local Music view does not show any artists, only a text "Counting" appears on under the Local Collection header. I tried even to move ~/.kde/share/apps/amarok and ~/.kde/share/apps/config/amarok* out of the way and then tried to rescan the collection. Scanning the collection takes about the same time on 2.1 so something seems to happen there, just the tracks don't appear in the collection. I also tried 2.2-GIT as of about 2009-09-12T13:00Z, but the only difference is that "Local Collection" header reports "0 tracks" instead of "counting". Rescanning or updating collection has no effect. Any ideas? |

Sounds like you have a MySQL problem. You need libmysqlclient15off to use the database, make sure you have that package installed.
Also, starting Amarok from a konsole with the option --debug shows you, what problem you have while scanning, have a look at there.
Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ... |

Thanks. This indeed looks like a MySQL problem. I get this message in the console output just after starting Amarok, and a lot more of similar errors when I start rescanning the collection:
I do have libmysqlclient15off installed (version 5.1.30really5.0.75-0ubuntu10.2), however, I noticed the Amarok 2.2 beta package for Karmic depends on mysql-server-5.1. So I'm assuming Amarok does not like my MySQL version, although it is ok'd by cmake. I tried to upgrade to MySQL-5.1 and build the Amarok package for Jaunty using Karmic sources, but resolving the dependencies ended up in conflicts and I did not succeed. Anyway, my motivation to move to 2.2 was issues with collection on 2.1 (i.e. tracks missing from collection, or filed under wrong artist). However, as this long-standing issue is not mentioned in the change log for 2.2 it seems very wishful thinking to assume it would be gone anyway. So I will give up trying to make 2.2 run on Jaunty, however, I would be interested to hear if anyone had success with that. Thanks for the help anyway. |

I am trying to compile the latest sources on opensuse 11.1 with kde 4.3.1 and I am getting the same problem. I got the mysql packages installed, plus at the end of the cmake process i get the message that all of the external packages have been found, so I do not understand what is going wrong.... |

hi ! (sorry for my bad english)
I don't know for Suse but you can't install amarok 2.2 beta on jaunty because amarok-utils must have got "libstdc++6" lib in 4.4 version. jaunty have got "libstdc++6" package in 4.3 version. you can force installation (I try it on other computer) but you have got some issues... after, amarok 2.2 final for jaunty ? I don't know...
