I lost amarok and VLC both on the last upgrade. I got VLC back by running:
"sudo apt-get install libdvdcss2 libdvdread4 libdvdnav4 vlc" But, amarok shows dependency issues and one broken package that I can't find using synaptic. Synaptic shows no broken packages and this package is not installed. Tried to install it and got other dependency issues. I get this from sudo aptitude: The following packages are BROKEN: libtag1-vanilla libtag1c2a The following NEW packages will be installed: amarok amarok-common{a} amarok-utils{a} libfftw3-3{a} liblastfm0{a} libtag-extras0{a} 0 packages upgraded, 6 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded. Need to get 73.1kB/55.2MB of archives. After unpacking 163MB will be used. The following packages have unmet dependencies: libtag1c2a: Breaks: libtag-extras0 but 0.1.6-1 is to be installed. libtag1-vanilla: Breaks: libtag-extras0 but 0.1.6-1 is to be installed. The following actions will resolve these dependencies: Keep the following packages at their current version: amarok [Not Installed] amarok-utils [Not Installed] libtag-extras0 [Not Installed] Leave the following dependencies unresolved: amarok-common recommends amarok (>= 2:2.1.85-0ubuntu1) Score is -10063

ups, misread something.
Which Kubuntu version are you using? Has Amarok been removed on the last system update or a distribution upgrade? |

Hm, i compared it with mine and all versions are the same, but amarok and amarok-common. I guess you have supported repositories only? If so, it seems that dependencies are broken. Perhaps you want to try to include the Backports Beta PPA or wait until it's fixed.

Aaah, sorry, i must corrected (somehow unconcentrated). 2.1.80 is from backports ppa but the current version 2.1.85 is from stable archives and is installed properly here.
What versions of libtag1-vanilla, libtag1c2a, libtag-extras0 are installed or (if not) available? |

And the other two packages?
I have different versions here (libtag-vanilla and libtag1c2a both are 1.5-7, libtag-extras0 0.1.6-1). Try to check which version Amarok depends on (you see it with aptitude show amarok), beware that the libtag packages also have dependencies with each other. |

libtag1c2a,= 1.6-2ubuntu1 installed and libtag-extras0= 1.6-2 not installed without ubuntu1 behind it. Sorry didn't get it all in the first reply.

Ok, this is good so far:
libtag-extras0 (>= 0.1.1) libtag1c2a (>= 1.5) Can also paste the same output for libtag-extras0 and libtag1c2a? |
