Hi,
Love the way Amarok is developing. 2.2RC1 looks lovely, but this post refers to 2.1.1 since I can't use 2.2 on my system (Kubuntu Jaunty). I've encountered a couple of problems using it with my iPod (Nano 4th Gen) and wanted to discuss them here to see if I should raise bug reports. Firstly, I've found that if I start transferring an album to the iPod, and then start transferring another one before the first one has finished, tracks from both albums are randomly skipped in the transfer, leaving me with one or two incomplete albums on the iPod. If I take the care to wait for one album to completely transfer before transferring the next I never see this problem. Secondly, after transferring an album, the collection browser jumps back to the top while it counts the tracks on the iPod. This makes it frustrating when I'm transferring lots of albums from my (large) collection as I have to keep scrolling back down to find where I'd got to. I think it would be much better if the collection browser stayed where I'd scrolled it to. Finally, if I transfer an AAC audio-only track with a .mp4 extension, the iPod interprets this as a video and it appears under 'Movies'. This doesn't happen if I use gtkpod. (mp4 is the normal file extension for AAC audio but it's also often used for video files too. Video files ought to be .m4v but of course there's no way to enforce this.) It looks like Amarok is assuming that mp4 is video, but this isn't necessarily true. Thanks for listening. If these are fixed in 2.2 then it's be a good reason for me to upgrade to Karmic when it comes out |
