I hear your pain. I love KDE4 and the new look of Amarok. The only reason I used amarok is to get new stuff onto my ipod. I still think Amarok 1.4 is the best thing out there to get this done. Because of library conflicts I have not been able to get amarok 1.4 alongside the new KDE4. I tried some other solutions (gtkpod & bashpodder) but have found that virtualbox with an old ubuntu is working. The resource impaired may not want to try this though.
Good job so far and you have many patiently waiting this feature |

I am running Amarok 1.4.10 on KDE 4.3.2 - no problem. Can you be more specific about the library conflicts? |

some of you guys got amarok 1 to work on current versions of linux? i wish i could. amarok 1 squashes buggy and unstable amarok 2 like a bug. i tried to get amarok 1 to install sometime last year but gave up after an hour or so because of the aforementioned conflicts.

What distro are you using? |

Think, the last posts are getting a bit off topic.
Anyway, using openSUSE is easy, because it uses different directories for KDE3 and 4 as $KDEDIR (/opt/kde3 vs. /usr)and $KDEHOME (.kde vs. .kde4). But plz. use the search function for installing archaic 1.4 on current distros. m0nk

ubuntu jaunty. i actually gave it another stab this morning and got it to work with the help of these instructions: http://ubuntuforums.org/archive/index.p ... 63514.html the link he mentions at the start for downloading everything you need is dead, you have to change a lot of the file names he mentions if you have an intel CPU instead of AMD, the wonky formatting is hard to follow, and his english is a bit off, but still i was able to figure it out based on this (so thank you, good sir). there was a lot of googling for different .deb packages involved, and i totally broke sound on my computer at one point (following the instructions to install multimedia at http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php? ... dia+jaunty and rebooting seemed to fix that). it all took about an hour, and i can't remember what i did specifically, but it's working now. oh wait, the stream i was listening to just quit, and now amarok won't play anything! oh well, thought i had it there for a while. |

Folks, could you please stay on topic? Most of the posts here are definitely *not*.
Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ... |

I moved this thread. Please start a new thread when your question doesn't fit the topic (or even better, search the forum for previous entries about the topic, there are quite a few already...).
