Amarok shows albums, but no tracks

Mon Nov 02, 2009 11:19 am
Hi,

I just ripped my Stones collection of about 25 Cds as flac. First they showed up correctly in Amarok. Then I added replay gain tags with metaflac, adjusted some tags with easytag ("Rolling Stones", "Rolling Stones, The" => "The Rolling Stones") and moved them to another location (into another collection folder). Now amarok still shows the albums in the collection browser - but they are empty and contain no tracks. There is no difference if I update or completely rescan the collection.

When I drag the files manually from dolphin into the playlist, they play, but amarok doesn't read the tags but only shows the filenames.
But the tags are correctly set, audacious for example can read them, and metaflac shows them at the console.

And what exact Amarok version are you talking about? Please don't forget to give some minimal information, e.g. exact version number, KDE version, and distribution. Also if the files are stored locally on your computer or are on an external medium (media player, USB, external harddisk, samba share, etc.)

Did you try a full rescan and restart Amarok? Sometimes it's just a collection view update problem.

Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ...

Just forgot, I am using the latest git version of amarok with kde-4.3.2 on gentoo. The files are stored locally. I tried rescanning, updating and restarting, but nothing helped.

Hm, there is or at least was a problem with the MySQL version in Gentoo recently, that might be the problem. Did you search the forum? I vaguely remember a thread about exactly that problem.

BTW, it would be helpful if you could set the distribution in your forum profile, since we would at least know what distribution you use without having to ask :)

Of course I searched, but didn't find anything. Maybe I have luck with the new information concerning gentoo and mysql.

Sorry, no luck. My MySQL version is 5.0.84-r1 and in amarok I am NOT using an external db. Could you please help me finding the thread you mentioned?

Well, it's really easy to find with the keywords 'MySQL Gentoo':

viewtopic.php?f=115&t=83126&hilit=MysQL+Gentoo#p134555

and you seem to have exactly the version that causes problems *sigh*
