can't advance progress bar [2.2]

Mon Nov 02, 2009 7:50 pm
Hi Amarockers,

I just upgraded to Amarok 2.2 and everything works like a charm except for one weird problem:

I can't advance the current song with clicking on the progress bar. Clicking on the progress bar exactly does nothing, so jumping within a song is not possible.

I'm using opensuse with the KDE43 repo. Does anyone have an idea ?

Thanks a lot !

cheers
Chris

Install MP3 support.

Hi Mark,

thanks for the input, but I think I don't know what exactly to do. Amarok plays MP3 just fine and I have lame and the lame-libs installed. What do I miss ?

Thanks,
cheers,

I'm guessing you are playing FLAC files then?

no, I only have mp3 files, all tagged and Amarok plays them fine. It's just the progress bar that I can't advance. I had 2.1.1 installed before (2.2 now) and didn't have the problem.

I'm guessing it's not really an Amarok issue but something with either mp3-support or the GUI. I'm a bit puzzled at the moment and have no clue where to start solving the problem.

I also just discovered that pressing the "pause" button while playing an MP3 file does restart the song and not pause it... I really think something is wrong with some MP3 libs

ok, problem solved :)

I switched from gstreamer backend to xine backend.

Then I had the problem described here, no sound in Amarok with xine:

viewtopic.php?f=115&t=83137

I deleted ~/.xine/catalog.cache and rebooted the machine.

-> Sound and a fully functional progress bar is back :)
