Problem with playlists

Mon Nov 09, 2009 7:34 am
I'm using Amarok 2.2.0 with Kubuntu 9.10. Until now I've been using the 1.4 branch. I wanted to import my existing playlists so I copied the m3u files into ~/.kde/share/apps/amarok/playlists, but it seems Amarok does not recognize them.

I've created a new playlist, but can't find the corresponding file anywhere - I suppose it's saved into a built-in database. How can I export/import? I don't see any corresponding button.

Also, after creating a folder in the playlist section, the "rename" and "delete" buttons in the pop-up menu does not work. Rename even opens the rename window but nothing happens. I can rename only by double-clicking, and can't delete at all.

Also, a feature that existed in 1.4.x but seems missing from 2.2.0 is the ability to create empty playlists and then drag files from the current playlist into them. I can live without it, but it was still nice.

Thanks!

I just installed 9.10, set up Amarok 2.2 and pointed to the same music folder on my home partition and all the playlists where magically there. I then realized that my iPods playlists were showing up in a unified playlist view. I could not tell which playlists were local and which were on the iPod.

Yeah, playlist editing was a lot easier when you could drag and drop or re-save existing playlists. I can't figure out how to do that. When you click the save icon, it does a save as. Not a good default.
